FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR´S DESK

KADETFU has not been stagnant at any given time. It has been growing by the day. In such, I wish to convey my gratitude to all who strived and gave a hand to us to reach where we are today when ending this memorable year. The year was rewarding in which KADETFU utilized this opportunity to persist towards her goals. It has been aspirant to accomplish her errands of combating poverty and economic promotion among the working poor through diverse strategies that include using appropriate approaches such as participatory and involvement.

After all, being one of the key stakeholders in development, KADETFU witnessed a busy, but a very successful year with remarkable outcomes of her activities. We contented that KADETFU now is prominent and credible within and without our country. Many contacts have been made during the report year. We invited many visitors from in and out of the continent and further more, our relationship with the government has been toughened.

Development is not a one man show; it needs collaboration, cooperation,   participation and involvement. Sustainable development therefore, needs sustainable strategies which have been planned in participatory way. During the year, we have been striving to promote what is known as “Local Governance’. The theme involves three pillars of sustainable development; the Local Government, CSOs and the Private sector. KADETFU has been tasked to be a puller in this initiative. Therefore, we are looking forwards to accomplishing our task in which we envisage a “District Development Forum’ that involves all three pillars in development planning.

Efforts which have started during the last year are the consequences during this year. Communities´ capacity building continued to be one of the approaches. Economic promotion went tantamount with provision of capital base through credits for establishing income generation activities as a gear to combat poverty.  The Lion (Poverty) is therefore defeated if all of these efforts continue during the proceeding year.

Throughout the year, all Tanzania Citizens were in a hot environment of political campaigns due to political rallies which were subsequently followed by the General election. We are grateful and therefore wish to thank all Tanzanians for the peaceful atmosphere they created throughout the campaign period. It is nice to hear that most of them used and suited their right to vote as they registered themselves and appeared to the voting centers on the Election Day. They used their right as precise as possible. The elected Government is therefore requested to fulfill her promised made during the campaigns.

Furthermore, when the year comes to an end, it triggers the start of activities for the proceeding year. Let us bring forward the achievements and expand them during the subsequent year.

Undoubtedly therefore, this repot will expose the readers to what has been done during the ending year and therefore give them a room for consultancy, advice and guidance.

I wish you all every success during the coming year of 2006.
